Mista Mista

Let's get right into this bad boy!
So I got a couple stories, I have deep desire to express in this email.
Okay, so Washington State being the great blue state it is has one very small flaw! So in the summer its low to mid 90s and around 100-155 percent humidity. And living in an apartment on the second ground with another full grown Male adult missionary, your apartment can get a bit toasty. And being the white kids we are, it's like we are marshmallows over an open summer fire while we our in our home of rest. And when you go out for a good amount of the day in the sweltering sun you shed off a couple of cookies. And the only time you have refuge from the furnace is when a kid person welcomes you into their house. But me and my companion whose name is Elder Gray.
We are blessed enough to have a window AC unit in our house. I don't know why I'm so blessed in life but I am. So we had our little window AC in a window. Then last week we get a text from the mission saying we cant have it in our window because it can fall and injure someone๐Ÿ˜‘ (I've seen Happy Gilmore, and the Mista Mista Lady is just fine when one falls on her) so they tell us that someone is coming by to get it๐Ÿ‘Ž๐Ÿฝ but me and my companion are not letting that happen in our U S OF A, You think for one second Imma just roll on over and die? You my kind Sir have got another thing coming your way. So like Jimmy Neutron I think hard! Then I find I can just put it in my sliding door and put a blanket over so no bugs can get in. (Photos in bottom) then I try and explain my great ingenuity to the people coming to steal my one true love my AC❄ and they didn't understand what I was saying no matter how long me and my comp. explained they just had no idea. So they come over to see, and after about 20 minutes of explaining why we ain't letting it go,they let us keep it!!!! They ain't never gonna touch my dearly beloved AC unit. Go story.
Now on to another story, so we are teaching a lady named Susan she is awesome she is like in her 50's and one of the nicest ladies you would want to meet. But recently she went through a divorce which is both a blessing and a curse. Of course it's a curse cause I think it would suck to have the person you love so much leave you, I don't want to imagine it not even a little, but her Ex Husband wouldn't really let her go to church of any kind because he absolutely hated it, but now that they aren't together anymore and watching her love for Christ and His gospel grow is truly a special treat. It's like a kid in a candy store she is praying and reading scriptures a lot which has always been something she has wanted to do. She has always loved her Savior, but her husband just wouldn't let her express that love. And watching her just indulge in the gospel and everything we teach her is just an amazing thing to watch. Right now since it's all a bit new to her she goes to any church that is open. Due to covid as we know a lot of things are shut down especially is Washington! She found a church which is a non denominational church that she goes to since our is currently closed. But lucky for her and us, our stake does a broadcast thing every week that she watches! She just really really loves being around people, but another thing, Watching and seeing how Christ is preparing her. She has an awesome neighbor, who is a member in our ward that has grown close to her over the years, and a couple other members stop by on occasion to say Hi and drop off a treat. It's awesome that her neighbor and her are already friends! And more then willing to help us. But that is Susan a great old lady that is the best!
I could go on for days about all the stories through these past couple months, but that's a story for another time. Covid is still shutting us DOWN for the past 5 months, 3 of them have been in a stay at home order and the last 2 have been so restricted that you can't really do anything like how we used to. In this mission I would say finding people in the past has been about 99 percent door to door but now its made the mission focus on things like facebook and referrals which is super good but facebook as we know it is for Moms, so they reach we could have isn't the greatest because most people have moved on from Facebook which makes it a challenge. But we have adapted and continue to adapt. But now we have a new challenge with everyone foreign coming home, it is over loading the USA with missionaries which is good but for my mission which is smaller then a county and not a very big county we have gone from 180 missionaries to about 280 since the beginning of the pandemic and up to this point. Like on Monday we are getting 58 new missionaries to the mission which is great, but man we are very condensed but I'm assuming every mission in the USA is like we are. Both good and bad definitely weird times in the world.
Fun fact in the middle of writing this my right nostril opened up like a flood gate and blood started flying all over the place outta my nose.
Well I hope all is well and love you all, Be safe!

Well well well

Well well well, it's been awhile I bet y'all have missed me๐Ÿ˜‚ I'm happy I was finally  able to get one out with the whole corona virus, so some might wonder how it's effecting us. As most of you know, Most of the Corona virus cases are in my mission, and most of the deaths also; My mission doesn't even cover a full county, it's super small so that's really saying something. Half of  the stakes in my mission canceled church on Sundays, Most of down town Seattle and Bellevue aren't going to work, a lot of schools are canceled and Washington has gone into a State of Emergency! So much fun!  We can't shake hands or hug, and have been told to stock pile food in case of quarantine so it's a fun time. But I'm sure y'all have heard a lot of stuff about this.
I'm in a town called Auburn and have been here for 9 months of my mission not all at once, but it's fun, I used to be in a trio which was super fun, we all really liked each other and it's been a great time. Last week I was  put back with one companion who's name is Jack Baptista, he's a cool cat from the bay area, good kid.
All I can say is I hate clouds with a passion! They are the worst things on planet earth. People are like "oh it doesn't rain much" as people say๐Ÿ‘Ž๐Ÿป" but they don't say that it's always cloudy, I mean we saw the sun two times in the entire month of January! That's right 2 times✌  it was the worst thing! My skin is whiter then my shirt, it's creepy. And some of these cave crawlers up here love that a chair has more legs then days with the sun! And their all just the weirdest people. I worry about them, If you don't like the sun then you're not going to like it when Christ comes again. It will be too bright. But the sun was out a shining and happy today it was the best! I picked up a new hobby and it is pickle ball! Funniest thing out there, there is a member in our Stake with  pickle ball courts (they rich as it comes) and we just play pickle ball for hours, It's so nice.
Well thanks for listening with your eyes about me ranting on, But I love my mission! All but the no sun thing kinda sad! But Christ is good! Life is good!

Spaghetti

Hi. Well it was a good week here in the great city of Auburn. It was super sunny and I was happy and it was amazing every time I looked at the sun I saw a face smiling back at me like in the Tella Tubbys๐ŸŒž it was awesome. But all great things  must come to an end๐Ÿ˜ญ this week is supposed to rain practically every single day of this week๐Ÿ’˜ time to start eating Vitamin D like a fat kid with Candy! Talking about candy Halloween is coming up and when we go out tracting and get let into someone's house they always have candy๐Ÿค— and since I love candy I always ask for some and then usually let me take alot. I'm just waiting for that after Halloween sale of candy when they need to get it gone so its dirt cheap, cause I'm poor out here!
Okay here is a a "funny" story, so the past couple weeks we have had dinners with members on Sunday๐Ÿค” and let me tell ya the past two weeks of food have SUCKED๐Ÿคข like last week they had this disgusting ravioli stuff. It was terrible, I don't even know that was in it, but is was no bueno! This week we went to a members house. I smell spaghetti and I wanted to cry! If you ever feed the missionaries make them something that's not spaghetti, I suck at cooking but I can make that, and a lot of members already do. If you know how to cook make the missionaries a nice home cooked meal, not spaghetti! So I want to excited for it. But then dinner came and I turn the corner to what it was and I was shook๐Ÿ˜ค all I saw was some up chuck! And then they explain what was in it, it was rice noodles, with spinach and this nasty sauce with no meat, and some other junk in it! Then on the side was the "healthy" stuff, it was eggplant, zucchini, tomatoes, nasty stuff with an egg on top๐Ÿ˜ฑ like I'm a picky eater but even my comp thought it was terrible. Background on this family to help picture what they are like, okay so the husband is in the medical field, got lucky with the wife he got! 3 daughters, and not only daughters but VEGETARIAN daughters. So that's what they made some nasty vegetarian food, and the vegetarian daughters didnt even eat this. But the family gave me ice cream so that made the punch a little less. But no I need a good mom home cooked meal! Not this geezer food๐Ÿคฎ  but at least they tried to feed the missionaries! It's the thought that counts.
Then more on the spiritual side, so we are working with some pretty sick people right now. This dude we are teaching he had a super nice truck (photo I sent last week) and my comp loves trucks and knows everything to know about them. And when he saw this truck he had to stop by and talk about it. And so we knock on the dudes door, he answers said I'm not interested, then goes to close the door. But wait the Mormons have a plan B. So my comp practically puts his foot in the door and talks about this truck 20 minutes later he tells us to come back and go for a ride. Then this past week we went back and went for like a 30 minute drive in this dudes 70000 dollar truck for like 30 minutes and we are talking trucks, guns, Republican things and at the end we are parked in front of his house and he then asks if we like our religion๐Ÿ˜Ž so we share our testimonies and he liked it and said we can come bac, cause he and his wife are interested and looking for a church๐Ÿ˜ so that's dope.
I'm good just enjoying life, and if any of you ever get to thinking on how u can help good ol Elder Kenfield I mean everyone needs blessings and the best way is helping the missionaries (here is where I tell u to feed the ur local missionaries or give them a referral or something. But sike...) so here is how u get blessings, send me some snacks and a card or something,๐Ÿ˜€ it's that time of year where it's the holidays and I'm not with family and super sad stuff! And the best way to get over these hard times is with snacks! (And Jesus of course)  yes snacks! Other then that I hope you all have a good week and if any ones needs anything from me just let me know. I can send a book of Mormon and at that point, I'm tapped out!๐Ÿ˜‚ but I love all of you, And we all need blessings!

I coming home Eventually!

Come and goes another week of the mission! It was a pretty good week! So this week we ran into a nice man named Mark and he is on date for baptism๐ŸŒŠ so pray for Mark he is super cool. He already went to our church down in Tacoma a couple times and likes it! That was a pretty cool miracle.
Okay then to one of the highlights of my mission. Okay for you folks that don't know I love golf๐Ÿ’œ it is one of my favorite past times. And so 4 weeks ago they finally decided to kick me out of my old area after 6 months๐Ÿคข and now in my new area we have other golfers in the zone! So on Monday we decided to go! It was so much fun!!! There were 5 of us, and our tee time was at 8:09. And we arrived at 8:09! Luckily for us we had a group of like 3 or 4 old Grandpas in front of us and a group of like 6 old geezers behind us and the 4 of the 6 were walking so they didn't come close to us. But the rules dude drove up to us to tell us we where holding up the course later in the round! Then we turned around and guess what? The gobblers behind us were a whole hole behind us๐Ÿ˜‘ I was shook๐Ÿค” but it was to much fun! I played okay for not playing in almost 1 year!
Also I've almost been out 1 year! Wow times flies when you never see the sun๐ŸŒฆ It's quite frankly amazing that it's almost been a year since my parents lost their favorite child! So if you see them give them your condolences!  and Hugs. I would be wrecked to if I were them!
Other then that not to much happened! Fun story before I depart into the wilderness. So we did service for this one dude (I forgot to take photos) but we were helping this him move! And when I walked up I saw an old gumball machine, and I saw there were still some gumballs left that have probably been their since the dawn of time! And I turn to the dude we are help moving and I ask if I can have it! With an idea in mind! And the dude was like, yes take it I don't want it anymore! But the other missionaries I was with, since they aren't Scott Kenfield were like oh NO! We don't want that! Blah blah blah! These blue baboons have no idea what their talking about. So I turn to them as say "I don't want the gumball machine.๐Ÿค‘" Then they realize why I wanted it. And I'll leave it at that.
Other then that I hope everyone is having a good day and God bless.

Talk, Talk, Talk

Well its been awhile but the PNW is doing good! The work is moving along pretty good we just got a new Mission President and he is so cool! He has  a high love and high expectations which is just absolutely amazing. He is pretty chill, there are some rules that the last mission President made, that the new President got rid of pretty quick. Like for example, We weren't allowed to wear floral ties, but the new President thought it was weird and got rid of it! So nice.
Lately we've been running into a lot of old single people and man they can talk your ear off, like one lady named Judy we teach, and she was in the military back in the day and her whole life was in the military, her husband died back in Vietnam (war). She is a funny lady but man she can talk. It's like when you're trying to leave church and your parents start talking!  We also are teaching a guy named Paul. Not Paul from the bible, he is also in the same boat as Judy, He is 81, and his wife passed away about a year ago. Whoa, ain't never talked that much, I would bet car sales men talk less then this man, but he is super kind and funny, so it all evens itself out in the end.
Other then that life is good it's been hotter then usual here (according to the natives) and it kinds sucks. I mean I go out side and walk 10 feet and I'm K.O. but it's all good when you are bringing salvation of man! Other then that I hope all yall's have a good week and until next time.

Missionaries out having fun

Rain Rain Go Away

Well it's been a week or 2 since the last time i sat down and wrote a very well constructed letter. And if you know me and my spelling this is going to take as long UDOT, to finish this bad boy๐Ÿšธ
So this past couple weeks have been pretty good except one thing the rain๐Ÿ‘Ž๐ŸผI tell ya what; idk why people live here all it does is rain๐ŸŒง rain๐ŸŒง rain⛈ rain๐ŸŒฆrain๐ŸŒจ rain๐ŸŒง if it keeps raining we might have to do a sequel to Noah's ark๐ŸŒŠ let me tell you what the primary song, The rains came down and the floods came up that's some serious stuff๐ŸŠ‍♂️ okay funny story about the rain, so I'm privileged enough to have a bike in my area so one day we leave the house to some clouds nothing to big so I go without a rain jacket. get what I'm saying. So then we bike to our area and start knockin doors๐Ÿšชthen bout half way threw this session we get blind sided like the titanic, by rain no joke! So me and my company you know we are just trying to find shelter so we keep knocking doors to find someone to take 2 good looking young men in for a minute, but I mean people aren't nice sometime we struck out at ever single door๐Ÿ˜ญ I felt like a turtle on it's back, stranded. And about 10 minutes in we are just huddled under this person's stoop. And by this point it look like I got into a fight with Poseidon๐Ÿงœ‍♂️ and since I wasn't expecting the great storm of 2019 I didn't have my rain jacket. So pitcher, this an attractive young man (me) DRENCHED by water with a thin WHITE shirt and a thin WHITE garment top on๐Ÿ˜ณ so you could just pitcher that๐Ÿ˜‚ bad new bears.
Okay on to a more spiritual note, so these past couple weeks we have had some money contacts, people are opening up their hearts these days. So we ran into this little Mexican dude named Vlad and he is so awesome, he loved what we told him so we invited him to church and he came. But since hes awesome he brought his girlfriend! And they really enjoyed it said they would come back! So that is money and we have a couple other people like that. So the work is going dang good.
Also talking about running into a lot of nice people we still get those occasional missionary๐Ÿ‘Œ haters! And they are super mean lately but my companion is very very very wel script in the bible and he just roasts people like a oven! And he is so good he knows the bible better them the Pope himself, so when we run into a mean basher he just tears into them with the bible (humbly of course) but hes definitely give me some good knowledge!
Well other then that I'm doing good just living each day to the max! It is not the years in your life but the life in your years that counts.9
Well everyone live worthily, happy, and honorable. Love yalls and talk to you again.
