Christmas Cookies

I'm late posting this email, Scott sent it on the 10th Enjoy! πŸ˜‹

Well it's been a good week, the sun came out and stayed out!! I have never been so happy proclaiming the gospel! Until yesterday😭 I woke up and it was raining... ya who would have guessed. But all i can do is pray that it changes. With the power of my missionary power It will be sunny until I leave in 23 months. No but with this beautiful weather we set up a cute little booth we had free Christmas cookies, a sign, a tree, and a survey with 4 questions and the last one asked to put your number, so we could get their contact info us tricky missionaries and we set up at a weird liberal college called Green River, it has a more asians then China town it's insane. And they also have a lot of weirdos like any college would, but this is Washington so that all I need to say. Okay the highlights! Some dude walks up and asks why we don't keep the 3rd commandment? Keep the Sabbath Holy, cause he was part of a weird 7th day religion crap, so I just looked at this dude and laughed, then my companion started bashing with him, it was so fun, I love people. Then he pulled out his bible and said I'll prove to you that the sabbath is Saturday. Then i responded with do you think God cares what day we do it or that we do it? Then the weirdo walked awayπŸ˜‚ then we bashed with a Korean pastor. Couldn't understand anything but it was fun. Next up, a vegan. Ya that's all i need to say about that guy, but the best! then this dude walked up to me and started going on about Christmas and stuff then he says "you know Santa used to be real, he was a man full of jolly and presents?" Uhh ya when I was 5 I believed this. This dude was convinced Santa was real and people hunted him down and killed himπŸŽ…πŸ˜΅ Haha what!! Then explain how I get gifts on ChristmasπŸ˜‚ I love college kids.
I committed an Asian named Tyler to be baptized!! But he isn't good at English and I don't think he understands what he got into. But fill up the fount baptize him and put it in the books!! Find, teach, BAPTIZE! numbers, numbers, numbers. That's all that mattersπŸ˜‚ but we might hand him over to some Chinese elders that can help him more then we can, sadly. But Seattle is lit. Love yalls and until next time.

I Finally saw the Sun!

Here is Scott's email this week.

Well I got a lot to say I tell you what. So far my mission has been pretty ssiiicckk. I finally got to see the sun yesterday and it brought a tear to mt eye living in Seattle in winter is not good for a one Elder KenfieldπŸ˜‚apparently it was sunny all summer and had little rain and the days were beautiful then Scott Kenfield gets here and mother nature is like well I'm going to piss this kid off. I'm not joking when I say I have prayed and thank God for the sun, I looked at the sun and it was like the sun in Tella Tubbies and it smiled back at me and had a cute little baby face🌝 I'm not even joking, given I was on a college campus and its Seattle and weeds legal🚬 I might have been higher then the sun... I don't know! Then the sun smiled back at me and I heard the words "I've missed you." No joke that's a 2 way street Mr. Baby face sun I've missed you to😭 lucky I have vitamin D supplements but if you could OD from vitamin D pills I think I would have by now😡 each pill has like 2000 I.U. whatever that means, I take like 5 pills in the morning and 1 or 2 at night my goal is to have more vitamin D then the sun.

My companion... well my companion is a Ukrainian convert that English is his 3rd language, he's a goon. The first night I was here we all got on our knees for prayer and their were 4 of us and 2 of us were new, so we get on our knees and my companion starts to pray, " Dear Joseph Smith. Thank you for the new missionaries and the opportunity we have to preach thy gospel" okay so I was thinking, well he's a Ukrainian covert of about 3 years, so he probably is a weird Russian speaking man who probably just got done pounding some Vodka or some other hard liquor idk. But I'm holding in laughing cause no one else is. Then about 5 seconds later he starts laughing then we all just go off, i honestly thought he was serious but their is no way so we all have a good laughter then we actually prayed. But it was funny as heck. Then today we walked by a car and they had their bong out, then my companion asked if they needed help with anything🀣 they said no. But the best part of my companion is he doesn't understand some stuff in English like when I said Dirk Napped i had to give him a huge lesson on it, and theirs a place called mod pizza and he said "mud pizza who would want to eat mud" so I tried to explain to him that its not made from Mud and it's just a name, he doesn't understand. I have to explain a lot of words to him and I mean a lot. But in exchange I'm learning Russian I can say "how are you doing bad boy"πŸ˜‚ it's weird stuff I'm learning but it's fun. He's pretty chill though the only bad thing is that he's a vegetarianπŸ˜‘he said that I and I almost cried it's sad stuff😭 but I mean more food for me, right?
But guess who came to visit, Elder Gong of the 12!! We had a special missionary only meeting with him cause we are cool. And he spoke all 190 missionaries in the Seattle Washington mission. It's so cool having an apostle so close to you its amazing. So I shook his hand and told him where I'm from and talked for a second then moved on to someone into the 70. Did you know that Elder Cook and Elder Holland were mission companions ya neither did I it's so cool!
But time for the bad newsπŸ˜₯ the area authority's had revelation to make dinner from 4-5 P.M. at night. And no member dinners on week days😭😭😭 and everyday I've been here people have fed me and now that's gone like a fart in the wind😭 and of you've seen my stomach you know I need a lot of food and now I don'
t. I need to learn to cook so if you got recipes please send to a brotha in needπŸ™
But I hope all y'alls have a good week and until next time love y'all.

He loves it!

Oh I love it here!! Their are so many people here and everyone loves the missionaries and I love them. I need a couple of things like a warmer jacket and  gloves I'll give you a Christmas listπŸ˜‚ ya Thanksgiving was so nice we ate at one of our bishopric's house and it was very good they have the same light fixture in their dining room as us and I laughed at it. And some lady wanted to send you a photo so I let her and you responded quick enough that I was still their so I got to hear about it. Ya my trainer is from Ukraine so I'm picking up some Russian like Paul saidπŸ˜‚ but he's good, loves to work and a very funny man. Not just a white boy from Utah. But other then that its rained everyday and the rain poncho thing works wonders!

Here are a few pictures that the Boy sent today!
Scott found one of his best friends int he SL international Airport, Scott was flying to Seattle, and Corbin was flying out to the Mexico MTC.

I'm Guessing that this is a picture of his area.

I think this is his Christmas Tree!

Seattle, Meet Elder Kenfield

We heard from Scott Sister Rasmussen, Scott's Mission President's wife, and she sent this picture and letter to Mike and I, we are so blessed that Scott will be serving in Washington.

Here is the letter we received:
We were so happy to welcome Elder Kenfield to Washington yesterday.  We were thrilled to receive this wonderful group of twenty eight missionaries!  After a three hour delayed flight, we had a great day with dinner, interviews and some training. They bring the fire of the MTC with them and we all catch it.  We look forward to watching your missionary stretch and grow and succeed!   Bishop Waddell told us in mission president seminar that we have that birds eye view that every parent wish they could have to watch the growth of their missionary.  We are truly blessed to be here and serve with these dedicated elders and sisters.   We are looking forward to getting to know him better as he serves the Lord in this beautiful part of the vineyard.
He has been assigned to work with Elder Kochev in the Green Valley YSA Ward in Maple Valley. You will hear from him on Monday which is our P-day.
The church is strong in this area and we love seeing the hand of the Lord in His work here.  Your family will be blessed as he teaches the Doctrine of Christ and brings salvation to those who live here.   We know he will be a great asset to our mission.

I just wanted to make your day,
Sister Rasmussen

We heard from Scott this morning, He is doing good.
Here is his email-
.. ..Okay so thanks for all the letters and presents and emails I love getting them and keep them up send me a lot of packages and stuff

The MTC is great I love it here it has a spirit with it like none I've ever experienced before and it's way nice to always have that feeling with you were every you go. It's, way nice I really enjoy it.

I'm in a room with 5 other guys and it's kinda cramped but we all fit some how they are all way cool and way nice they are some good men I tell you what. But apparently their is only like 4 people in  other  rooms but  I don't mind it, we stay very busy at night talking but usually get to bed at a reasonable time so not bad.

My companion is okay he's really testing his faith he doesn't catch a right hook he has a good heart but man he's annoying, I don't think he realizes that I'm also a member of the church, cause he tries to teach me and acts like he's all knowing and I'm not, so he's testing his luck, and he wants to be a psychiatrist and I think he thinks I'm his patient and it's starting to annoy me and things. But If you  look past that he's not bad.

But I enjoy it here it's way nice I'm leading a lot and coming closer to God like a should be so I got that. Well that's about it I need a couple things and will send to you later.

Love Scott

So our Missionary is doing good, and I am so happy to hear that.
Yesterday I received a picture of Scott and one of his best friends Jared, Jared had just entered the MTC yesterday, so they found each other rather quick. Jared will be serving in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
Here is their picture.
